Over a short period, three different vehicles came into Belmore Auto Pit for routine servicing. While each vehicle had its own service requirements, all three shared a common and easily overlooked issue — severely blocked cabin air filters.
As shown in the images, each filter was in poor condition, loaded with dust, dirt, leaves and fine debris. In one case, the filter media had darkened significantly, indicating it had not been replaced for an extended period. When compared to a new filter, the difference was clear.
These vehicles were driven in different conditions and by different owners, yet all three had cabin air filters that had gone well beyond their service life. This highlights how easily this component can be missed if regular inspections aren’t carried out as part of scheduled servicing.
A blocked cabin air filter restricts airflow through the ventilation and air conditioning system, reducing performance and allowing dust, pollen and unpleasant odours to enter the cabin.
In all three vehicles, the clogged filters were contributing to:
While these issues can develop gradually, regular servicing ensures they’re identified and corrected before affecting driver comfort or system efficiency.
Cabin air filters should be inspected at every service and replaced as required, particularly for vehicles driven in dusty environments, heavy traffic, or parked under trees. These three vehicles are a clear example of how quickly filters can become clogged without routine checks.
Once replaced, each vehicle benefited from improved airflow, better air conditioning performance and cleaner air inside the cabin.
At Belmore Auto Pit, every service includes a thorough inspection of key components — including those you don’t see every day. Regular servicing allows us to catch issues like this early, helping maintain comfort, air quality and overall vehicle health.
